Night Hike on the Loess Bluffs a Success
Midwest Region, September 14, 2006
Print Friendly Version

Wildlife Refuge Specialist Corey Kudrna lead a night hike for 15 students from the Missouri Western State University chapter of the Wildlife Society.

On the hike to the top of the bluffs, the group smelled the sweet aroma of ripe paw paws, a new sensation for most students.  While at the top of the bluff, the group watched the sunset over the Missouri River bottom and learned about refuge wetland management and the volunteer program.  After dark, the students tried some plant identification and owl calling as they hiked across the loess bluff prairie.
