On Sunday November 26, 2006, Zone Officer James Britt, Wallkill Officer Lori Lauer, and Ranger Croll from the National Park Service conducted an ATV detail on the refuge to educe illegal ATV activity  and resource damage. Part of the effort involved negotiating an arrangement for involvement of the National Park Service ranger. The Partnership also included Vernon Township, which committed to assisting if needed. The township indicated that their officers would assist with juvenile offenders. He also indicated that they could prosecute any adult offenders (as the local fines are higher and there may be a possibility of asking the judge for community service to repair damages to refuge trails.) Unfortunately, the detail did not yield any apprehensions. However, Zone Officer Britt will continue this partnership effort.
