On October 31, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dale Hall and Regional Director Marvin Moriarty visited the Long Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex headquarters at Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge. The Director and Regional Director met with staff, shared visions for the future of the agency and witnessed on-the-ground efforts of wildlife conservation.  After a breakfast and briefing with the complex's management team, Director Hall fielded questions from staff and board members of the Friends of Wertheim.  The visit ended with a boat tour down the Carmans River to see the selected site for the complex's future visitor center and learn about partnerships underway with Ducks Unlimited and Suffolk County to control invasive species (common reed) and restore wetlands.
