Chicago Field Office Participates in Local and State Envirothon Competitions

The Chicago Field Office provided staff to serve as an instructor for northeast Illinois’(Land Use Council 16) Envirothon; a high school environmental competition organized by the National Association of Conservation Districts. 

High school teams consisting of 5 students compete in the areas of Wildlife, Aquatics, Soils, Forestry, and a special topic. 

In FY2006, the Chicago Office provided an instructor for the Aquatics session at the LUC 16 competition (the eighth year for providing an instructor).  A total of 38 teams competed at the LUC 16 Envirothon, and 16 teams competed at the State Envirothon this year. 

Edwards County High School from southeast Illinois along the Wabash River, won 1st place at the state competition and proceeded to the national competition in Manitoba, Canada.
