The refuge conducted two controlled deer hunts during the month of October, 2006.  October 6 – 8 was the only archery hunt with 29 hunters, and October 13 – 15 was the youth primitive hunt with 24 youth.   All hunt drawings were conducted through the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation’s controlled hunt process.  The refuge conducted a pre-hunt briefing prior to each of the hunts.  A total of three deer were harvested during the archery hunt, and eleven during the youth primitive hunt.
