Muscatatuck and Big Oaks NWR staffs, NCTC Hosta Career Booth at the 79th Annual Career Convention in Indianapolis
Midwest Region, October 27, 2006
Print Friendly Version

Muscatatuck NWR, NCTC and Big Oaks NWR staff operated an exhibit at the 79th National FFA Convention, in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 24-27. The convention focused on careers and was attended by approximately 55,000 students, advisors and guests, the largest annual student gathering in the country.

Staff gave all of the outreach materials on hand, including about 2,200 Service career brochures, many general information brochures, over 11,000 Muscatatuck and Service pencils, rulers, bookmarks, postcards, and window clings.  The "Risky Critters” Jeopardy game and suitcase for survival were very popular.

Of particular note, staff distributed approximately 400-500 teacher/advisor education packets.  The teachers they spoke to were all very excited about getting this material, and thought it would be helpful information for use in their conservation curriculums.

The FFA members are very interested in the work of the Service and kept the staff busy with career and conservation questions
