Tom Lohouis, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, discusses moose research with Pamela Ables, Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Administrative Officer.

Kenai National Wildlife Refuge held a two-day end-of-season supervisors' meeting on the Refuge to evaluate staffing, budget, and general management issues.  The manager, deputy manager, supervisory public use ranger, administrative officer, fire management officer, supervisory fish and wildlife biologist, facilities manager, and oil and gas specialist participated in the program.  The group visited the Swanson River and Swan Lakes Recreation Areas, Swanson River Oil and Gas Fields, and Alaska Department of Fish and Game Cooperative Moose Research Centers and then spent the night at the Refuge's Outdoor Education Center discussing issues and management needs.  Along with numerous site inspections for newly completed or upgraded facilities, the group received an overview of the gas storage program within the Swanson River Fields, and an update on current moose and caribou research activities.  Projects for 2007 were also discussed.
