Partners in Flight Conservation Design Workshop
Midwest Region, April 13, 2006
Print Friendly Version

Migratory Birds staff biologist Tom Will helped plan and then facilitate portions of a three-day Conservation Design workshop, April 11-13, in St. Louis, Missouri.

The purpose of the workshop was to provide regional conservation planners with the tools and techniques needed to begin the process of translating continental-scale population objectives into strategic habitat goals that can be implemented on the ground to achieve the most efficient benefits for birds.

More than 100 representatives from government and non-governmental agencies in the U.S. and Canada participated.  A detailed agenda, presentation abstracts, and the presentations themselves are all available on the Partners in Flight website (www.partnersinflight.org

An 11-page summary of the workshop appeared as a special issue of the NABCI All-Bird Bulletin (http://www.nabci-us.org/bulletin0706-CD.pdf); the major concepts and outcomes of the workshop will also be communicated as a chapter in a forthcoming book on modeling and conservation design.
