Midwest Region, September 23, 2006
Print Friendly Version

Staff from the East Lansing Field Office, Michigan, recently attended the second annual Great Lakes Restoration Conference in Cleveland, Ohio.

The goal of the conference was to continue efforts to implement restoration goals for the Great Lakes, including those identified in the Healing Our Waters agenda.  More than 300 participants, representing a wide array of stakeholders, gathered for the three-day meeting.

Breakout sessions were held on topics mirroring the recent Great Lakes Regional Collaboration Strategy and included issues such as invasive species, non-point source pollution and toxic sediment.

East Lansing Field Office's Craig Czarnecki and Jack Dingledine participated in the session on habitat restoration. They described the diverse Service programs currently underway in the Great Lakes and the contribution of these programs in restoration.

The conference included keynote addresses by the EPA Administrator Steve Johnson, Ohio Senator Mike DeWine and Peter Fawcett, Deputy Director of the U.S. Relations Division, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada.
