Texas General Land Office (TGLO) - Texas Offshore Wind Project Research Plan (Plan) by Superior Renewable Energy (SRE)
Southwest Region, August 17, 2006
Print Friendly Version
The Corpus Christi Ecological Services Field Office (CCESFO) reviewed the Texas Offshore Wind Project Research Plan (Plan) by Superior Renewable Energy (SRE) and submitted comments to TGLO.  The CCESFO letter addressed the need for TGLO to continue coordination with all stakeholders as the research and subsequent project is developed.  Also, as the proposed project is located in the Gulf of Mexico, the research design should develop a study design suitable for investigating the potential impacts to Trans-Gulf migratory birds, rather than using methodology appropriate for upland avian species.  Additionally, the Plan should incorporate components that would look at the potential impacts to other Gulf resources such as marine mammals and sea turtles.  And finally, as the project is proposed for a location due-east of the Padre Island National Seashore, all phases of the project planning and construction should consider impacts of the project on the national park and the public that visits the park.
