Staff from the La Crosse Fish Health Center (LFHC) conducted a fish health inspection at Jordan River NFH, Michigan, August 21-22. During the inspection, LFHC staff observed the facilities and conditions at the hatchery and collected tissue samples to screen for pathogens.

Tissue samples were collected from four (4) production lots of lake trout.  The tissue samples will be screened for bacterial (Aeromonas salmonicida, Renibacterium salmoninarum, Yersinia ruckeri), viral (infectious pancreatic necrosis virus, infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus, viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus), and parasitic (Myxobolus cerebralis) pathogens at the LFHC's laboratory facilities in Onalaska, WI.

Lake trout reared at Jordan River NFH are stocked into Lake Huron and Lake Michigan as part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's restoration efforts on the Upper Great Lakes.
