Texas PFW Program hosts Stakeholder Meeting
Southwest Region, September 7, 2006
Print Friendly Version

On September 7, 2006, the Texas PFW program hosted a meeting of its “Stakeholders” at the Lower Colorado River Authority’s boardroom in Austin, Texas.  The primary purpose of the meeting was to present and then receive input on newly proposed focus areas, but a general overview and update of the PFW program in Texas was presented as well.  The proposed focus areas were developed primarily by the Texas PFW biologists and are to be used to guide the PFW project selection process beginning in FY07.  Twenty-five non-FWS people were in attendance, representing six State/Federal conservation agencies, five non-government conservation organizations, and one environmental consultant company (representing several private landowners).   Stakeholders generally approved of the proposed focus areas; however, recommendations to slightly modify a few of the focus areas (shapefiles) will be implemented.  Stakeholders also provided good suggestions on how to clarify our selection justifications.
