Kenai National Wildlife Refuge's Environmental Education Classroom was open seven days a week this summer introducing Refuge visitors to a variety of topics.  A new program "Junior Explorers" was enjoyed by 253 visitors between the ages of four and twelve.  To become a Junior Explorer, participants completed a worksheet while learning about Refuge flora and fauna.  Some Junior Explorers also completed the Trail Explorer program, which included another booklet to complete while hiking the nearby Keen-Eye Trail.  Visitors participated from throughout Alaska, the United States, and from as far away as Germany and Taiwan.  In addition to the Explorer programs, Refuge Environmental Education staff hosted thirteen nature talks in July and August.  The talks highlighted area wildlife and Native culture.
