On June 1, 2006, approximately 100 Pre-K students, teachers and parents from Caribou, Maine participated in a nature and outdoors lesson at the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge.  The students were divided into three smaller groups.  Refuge interns prepared a nature scavenger hunt for the event. Children were asked to locate objects along the refuge office trail.  The activity taught the children about the importance of not removing any animals or vegetation from the refuge, but instead writing down their answers.  The students had a great time as they discovered frogs, animal tracks, trees, flowers and many singing birds. When the students returned from their hunt they shared their answer with the other groups.  Despite the bugs, everyone has a great day.
