Students Learn about Frogs and Their Habitats at Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge
Northeast Region, June 17, 2006
Print Friendly Version

A group of  twenty home schooled children and their parents attended a frog walk led by biologist Dawn Washington at the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge in Maine. The program instructed children on how to identify frogs and toads by call. In addition, children were also educated about common frog and toad habitats and how they can help protect the wetland areas. Everyone had a fun experience while trying to listen and then find the frogs in the marsh. Frog species that were seen and/or heard included spring peepers, mink frogs and leopard frogs.
