A Right-of-Way was approved on the DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge for Wetland Reserve Program  dike work along the eastern boundary of the Refuge.

The dike work extended and enhanced existing moist soil unit dikes on the Refuge that will ultimately allow approximately 0.1 acres of permanent water and 160 acres of temporary water on Refuge.

This additional water will benefit shorebirds, wading birds and migratory waterfowl using the Refuge.
