From June 12 -15, 2006, staff  and volunteers from the Lake Champlain Fish and Wildlife Resource Office assisted New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Hudson River Natural Resource Damage Assessment staff  in collecting 3000 pounds of common carp. The carp were collected from the Hudson River in the area between Fort Edward and Mechanicville, New York, a section contaminated with PCB.  The carp were collected to provide a PCB contaminated food source for a mink feeding study.

Lake Champlain staff included fishery biologist Dave Nettles, volunteer Mareva Nettles and St. Michael's College intern Tyler Gaudet. The three used an SR-20E electrofishing boat to collect approximately 2600 lbs of carp during four days of intensive sampling.  Carp were bagged, frozen and packaged for shipping at the National Park Service, Saratoga Battlefield maintenance facility.
