Kenai National Wildlife Refuge hosted a group of 16 young volunteers from Banchory, Scotland July 13 - 18, 2006.  The youth, ages 16 and 17, were participating in a month-long Alaska expedition in a program similar to Outward Bound.  The collaboration with the Refuge fulfilled a mandatory service project for their trip.  While camping in remote wilderness settings the group worked with Refuge staff to restore an historic structure at Moose Creek, rehabilitate a damaged section of Bear Creek Trail, and reconstruct approximately 1/2 mile of Emma Lake Trail.  The quantity and quality of their work and the maturity and work ethic of the group was exemplary.  Expedition leaders and Refuge staff look forward to continuing international partnership in future years.
