Iron River NFH staff took the opportunity to show off their fish hauling truck by participating in two local parades.

The first parade was held the Fourth of July, in Superior, Wisconsin. The other was held July 22, during the Blueberry Festival in Iron River, Wisconsin.

Fishery Biologists Steve Redman and Kurt Schilling handled the truck driving responsibilities while volunteers handed out candy and fish shaped crackers.

Many local residents are unaware that there is a National Fish Hatchery in the area.  But having the truck out in the community shows the Service's presence and allows a chance to literally “toot our horn” in a fun public event.

Additionally, it offered a great way to advertise the hatchery's open house, scheduled for August 5.
