Cabeza Prieta NWR has expanded its educational offerings during the summer school and camp session through efforts with the Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation Department and the Ajo and Gila Bend Library summer reading programs.  On June 21, 30 students from 6 - 13 years were presented with  modules on Arizona wildlife and the Sonoran Desert.

Pima County Parks and Rec. Day campers took a field trip to CPNWR where 14 students 6 to 8 learned Leave No Trace ethics.

The refuge hosted a National Weather Service "Skywarn" presentation by Tom Evans of the Tucson NOAA-NWS, to recruit observers for significant weather events.

While most staff are enjoying well-deserved vacations, the onging office focus has been on EOY spending and welcoming the incoming Secretary of Interior.
