Community volunteers help collect litter along Refuge roads during a Kenai National Wildlife Refuge clean-up event.

The second annual Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Spring Clean-up, Green-up Day was held May 5th.  Community volunteers and Refuge staff joined together to pick up trash along over 30 miles of Refuge roads and near 8 Refuge facilities.  Help in the clean-up endeavor came from students and teachers from Skyview High and Sterling Elementary Schools, area boy scouts and leaders, Alaska Department of Transportation Adopt-a-Highway volunteers, Friends of Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, Refuge employees, and a few good Refuge neighbors.  Over 100 bags of litter were collected and delivered to the local landfull during the clean-up exercise.
