Remote Wildland Fires within Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Wilderness are Managed Differently based on Policies, Resources at Risk, and Management Discretion.

The April, 2006 (Volume 12, No. 1) edition of the International Journal of Wilderness featured an article on wilderness fire stewardship on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.  Written by Refuge biology and fire staff, the article addresses wilderness fire management policies and gives examples of various types of recent fires within the Refuge, where they were found in relation to Congressionally- designated Wilderness, and how the fires were managed.  For a copy of the article, contact the Journal at www.ijw.org, or the Refuge.
