Southwest Region, March 2, 2006
Print Friendly Version

The New Mexico Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program provided a booth display for a conference "Riparian Restoration in the Southwest" held in Albuquerque, on February 28-March 2, 2006.  The booth provided an ideal opportunity to meet with private landowners, and to market the Partners Program and the Private Stewardship Grant Program to conference attendees.  The conference was hosted by non-profit organizations: New Mexico Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, the Society for Range Management, the New Mexico Chapters of the Soil and Water Conservation Society, and the New Mexico Riparian Council.  The conference was held to share knowledge of methods used to manage and control invasive species in New Mexico.

The New Mexico Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program staff made a presentation on funding availability from an array of Federal and state sources for private land restoration.  Partners Program staff helped provide transportation for field trips to visit two riparian restoration projects.  Approximately 50 people participated in the field trip and 200 attended the conference.
