Coordination meeting with the Navajo Nation Department of Fish and Wildlife

Arizona Ecological Services Field Supervisor and staff met with Gloria Tom, Director, Navajo Nation Department of Fish and Wildlife (NNDFWL), and Department staff, and Arizona Fishery Resources Office (FRO), New Mexico Ecological Services and New Mexico Fishery Resources Office to discuss projects of mutual interest and ways of enhancing coordination.  Specific topics discussed included: NNDFWL role in the San Juan Recovery Implementation Program; development of a comprehensive fisheries management plan with the assistance of the AZ and NM FRO; fish inventories; and various development projects of mutual interest such as the Black Mesa Project and the Navajo Transmission Project.  The FWS also provided an update of current actions under the ESA including listings, recovery plan development, and status reviews.  Finally, we agreed to schedule annual coordination meetings.
