Deep Fork Refuge was highlighted during mid February on a taping of Outdoor Oklahoma.  Outdoor Oklahoma is an educational and resource oriented TV program which has a significant audience, developed by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.  Several different tapings were made during 2005 at different refuge events that included an environmental education day with school groups, and a refuge controlled youth muzzleloader deer hunt.  The show included interviews by refuge staff, members from the refuge friends group, local teachers, and Ross Murphy who was heavily involved in the establishment of Deep Fork NWR. Ross Murphy is a Tulsa businessman who formed the Deep Fork Coalition. Through this coalition he acquired congressional support to establish the refuge.
