Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge Meets with Limestone, Maine,Town Manager
Northeast Region, February 2, 2006
Print Friendly Version

Refuge Manager Kolodnicki and wildlife biologist Dawn Washington met with Limestone, Maine, Town Manager Donna M. Berrier to discuss the town's easement on Obar Road.  There was concern when the refuge started posting its boundary signs that the road use would be eliminated.  The town may must maintain the road and residents use it as a shortcut to pass through to other farms.  The area also serves as a flood management area and local fishing area.

The refuge will assist the town with beaver problems on the road and other problems when time and budget permits.  There was also discussion about some development easements at the refuge.

The town received a revenue sharing check at the meeting.
