Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge and Lower Kuskokwim School District staff hosted the second Junior Duck Stamp video workshop for teachers and students. The school district, which has 3,800 students in 25 schools covering 22,000 square miles, is one of the largest in the nation. Teachers participated from as far away as Mekoryuk on Nunivak Island, 18 miles from the coast. "Historically students from the Delta have competed in large numbers in the Migratory Bird Calendar Contest," said Refuge Education Specialist Donna Hanley. "Junior Duck Stamp is another tool teachers can use to enable students to combine art and science."

Deputy Manager Doug Staller and Lower Kuskokwim School District graphic artist Joy Shantz served as narrators for the video.  Education Specialist Hanley arranged the video conference and directed the session.  We look forward to increased participation as teachers become more familiar with the Junior Duck Stamp Program.
