Biologist Sanchez has been working up cooperative farm agreements for this year's farm program.  Several changes were made in hopes of maximizing refuge crop shares used by waterfowl.  Farmer/personnel meetings will continue for the next couple of weeks.

The annual Midwinter Waterfowl Survey was held on January 4th, and yielded 13,478 ducks, 12,475 geese, and 4 trumpeter swans for a grand total of 26,522 waterbirds (including American coots).  The refuge continued to hold high concentrations of ducks and geese throughout the month due to excellent habitat conditions.
