On October 15 & 16, 2005, the sixth annual Birdfest, hosted by U.S. Fish and Wildlife and the Friends of Ridgefield NWR, was held in Ridgefield, Washington home to Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge.  2500 visitors celebrated the coming of fall and the wildlife that makes the refuge their winter home.  Among the activities the visitors enjoyed was the lively bluegrass music and the opportunity to experience the refuge through sandhill crane tours, bird walks, kayak tours, archaeology talks and walks, raptor shows and a "focus on the refuge" art showcase.
