Emergency consultation with Border Patrol on Miller Peak Wilderness
Southwest Region, December 14, 2005
Print Friendly Version
ESO initiated emergency consultation with the US Border Patrol.  The Border Patrol needed helicopter access to the USFS's Miller Peak Wilderness in the Huachuca Mountains, to address the activities of a Mexican criminal gang operating there.  The MS13 Gang has camped out in the wilderness and is preying on undocumented aliens.  The Border Patrol expects the proposed action will not only remove the gang and their criminal activities, but will also reduce the traffic of undocumented aliens that traverse the wilderness crest of the Huachuca Mountains. Illegal border activities have seriously impacted natural resources in the area, compromised resident safety, caused wildlifes, and negatively impacted military training at Fort Huachuca.
