The Annual Meeting of the Desert Fishes Council (DFC) was held  November 17-19 in Cautro Cienegas, Coahuila, México.  Nathan Allan attended and presented the area report for Texas entitled “Desert Fishes Research and Management in Texas During 2005."  Nathan was also elected to serve as the next President of DFC.  The mission of DFC (www.desertfishes.org), which formed in 1969, is to preserve the biological integrity of desert aquatic ecosystems and their associated life forms and to hold symposia to report related research and management endeavors.  DFC currently has 241 active members, primarily professional biologists from state and federal agencies and academia.  The 2005 meeting in Cuatro Cienegas was one of the largest in history, with over 200 in attendence.
