For yet another year, Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex was a leader in prescribed fire accomplishments, conducting 146 burns and treating 34,697.1 acres.  Fire crews treated nearly 15,500 acres of leaseland farms within Tule Lake and Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge's.  Over 19,000 acres of waterfowl and migratory bird habitat were also managed with prescribed fire at Tule Lake, Lower Klamath and Modoc NWR's.  Bear Valley NWR experienced 130 acres of pile burning as part of an ongoing WUI hazardous fuels reduction and Juniper removal project. 

Klamath Basin's Fire Management Program protects lands within the six refuges of the Klamath Basin NWR Complex, including Bear Valley NWR, Upper Klamath NWR and Klamath Marsh NWR in southern Oregon and Clear Lake NWR, Lower Klamath NWR and Tule Lake NWR in northern California.  The program also provides fire management services to Modoc NWR in Alutras, CA, and Humboldt Bay NWR Complex in Loleta, CA.
