Release of the Middle Rio Grande Ecosystem Bosque Biological Management Plan, The First Decade: A Review and Update
Southwest Region, October 17, 2005
Print Friendly Version
On October 17, 2005, the official release of the long-awaited first decade review & update of the Middle Rio Grande Ecosystem Bosque Biological Management Plan (Crawford et al., 1993) was celebrated.  The event included a buffet lunch followed by a formal presentation of the book Middle Rio Grande Ecosystem Bosque Biological Management Plan, The First Decade: A Review & Update (Robert, 2005).  The presentation was followed by brief remarks of the first recipients, including Dr. Cliff Crawford, lead author of the original 1993 document; Steve Wagner, who chaired the Bosque Consortium River Flow Work Group, from which the Update was initiated; and, Cynthia Abeyta, (NM Ecological Services Field Office), Coordinator for the Middle Rio Grande Bosque Initiative and Bosque Improvement Group.

The document is a valuable resource, with relevance for water managers and policy makers, as well as restoration professionals.  The first chapter provides an historical overview of the events and initiatives of the past decade, with special attention to the collaborative efforts underway at all levels throughout the Middle Rio Grande Valley.

To obtain a copy of the document contact Cyndie Abeyta, NM Ecological Services Field Office, 761-4738.
