San Juan River Basin Recovery Implementation Program Fiscal Year 2006 Budget Completed
Southwest Region, October 1, 2005
Print Friendly Version
The San Juan River Basin Recovery Implementation Program (Program) approved the Fiscal Year 2006 budget, funding twenty-five projects for a total of $2,088,877.00. The projects are research, recovery and monitoring activities continuing the Program’s actions to recover two endangered fish species, the Colorado pikeminnow and razorback sucker.

The Program was initiated in 1992 to conserve and recover populations of two endangered fish species in the San Juan River Basin while allowing water development to proceed in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws.  The Program, in addition to recovery actions, is intended to provide the measures for compliance with the Endangered Species Act for water development and water management activities in the basin.

The Program is considered a national model of cost-effective, public and private partnership working to recover endangered species while allowing water development to continue.
