October 27, 2005 was the date for the 35th Annual Bison Auction at the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge sold 162 animals this year, and attendance was excellent.

The auction is considered one of the “must-see” events in Oklahoma, drawing buyers and watchers from across the United States. Some local and area schools use the event for field trips and teachers use the sales information to create math curricula for students.

The Lawton Chamber of Commerce and Industry provides complementary coffee during the morning, and offers a lunchtime burger plate with all the extra fixings for $5.00. The total in sales for the Bison Auction was $71,190.00.
