The Sunrise Snowmobilers nominated Moosehorn NWR for Municipal Landowner of Year Award.  The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has an award program which recognized private landowers, municipal and Corporate landowners for public cooperation in the area of access for recreational purposes.  The refuge has part of the Maine Interconnected Trail System running through it.  The several past managers have worked for years with the club to direct snowmobile use to areas of the refuge that will allow for safe and limited multi- user conflicts.  The club grooms trails for X-country skiing and maintains a high level of communication with the refuge to include having a club member service on the Friends of Moosehorn Board.   Governor John E. Baldacci officiated at the ceremony along with Roland D. Martin, Commission of the Department.
