Journal Entry   Back 10th Annual Lesser Prairie-chicken Interstate Working Group Meeting Southwest Region, September 19, 2005 Print Friendly Version John Hughes of the West Texas Suboffice attended the 10th annual meeting of the Lesser Prairie-chicken Interstate Working Group (LPCIWG) held in conjunction with the Prairie Grouse Technical Council meeting in Valentine, Nebraska. The meeting included several technical presentations dealing with current lesser prairie-chicken research, habitat restoration initiatives, and the development of a rangewide lesser prairie-chicken conservation plan as a part of an overall North American Grouse Management Plan. Mr. Hughes will be assisting Heather Whitlaw, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department lead for the species, in the development of the rangewide conservation plan.
