SOUTH TEXAS NATURAL RESOURCES PARTNERING TEAM
Southwest Region, August 11, 2005
Print Friendly Version
The South Texas Natural Resources Partnering Team (STNRP Team) met on August 11, 2005 for its Quarterly Meeting. Pat Clements of the Corpus Christi Ecological Service Field Office (CCESFO)distributed the final South Texas Ambrosia (Ambrosia cheiranthifolia) Management Plan, Naval Air Station, Kingsville TX (NASK). Shannon Garvon of the CCESFO, under a transfer fund agreement with the Navy, and in consultation with NASK, wrote the management plan and developed the procedures for the Navy to monitor this federally listed plant. The surveys conducted by Ms. Garvon as part of the plan development process documented that there are presently 25 distinct sites on NASK supporting South Texas Ambrosia, as compared to the 13 sites known when the plant was listed in 1980.

Jill Parrish and Lorraine Howerton of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) gave a presentation to the STNRP team outlining the NFWF partnerships and programs and specifically the programs that involve the Department of Defense, such as Partners in Flight, the Pulling Together Initiative, and the Military Withdrawal Lands Act of 1999 all of which the Service is also actively participating as a partner.
