Journal Entry   Back Moosehorn Wildfire Crew Works Out Northeast Region, May 2, 2005 Print Friendly Version Forest technicians Wesley Hatch and Brandon Harriman with the help of refuge staff conducted 38 acres of prescribed fires to maintain fire breaks and reduce fuels during May. They also assited Maine Coastal Islands on a burn at Petit Mann Refuge. The technicians have also conducted numerous outreach activities. Recently, they participated in two elementary school health fairs. They talked with students about fire safety in the woods and its place in nature. The refuge provided many handouts to the students at Woodland and Calais Elementary Schools in Maine. A presentation was also made to the Washington County Firefighter Association.
