Journal Entry   Back Santa Ana NWR has Mexican Sister Park Southwest Region, July 31, 2005 Print Friendly Version A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on July 31, 2005 creating a sister park relationship between Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge and Chipinque Ecological Park, Monterey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Similar to Santa Ana in size, Chipinque is a 4,015-acre natural area rich in biodiversity. It's programs in wildlife research, fire management, habitat restoration and law enforcement correlate with programs at Santa Ana and there are strong cultural and language similarities between the two areas.
