Journal Entry   Back Wallkill River NWR, Volunteers Conduct Annual Butterfly Survey Northeast Region, July 14, 2005 Print Friendly Version Led by a dedicated corps of volunteers, Wallkill River NWR conducted its sixth annual butterfly count. More than 1900 indivdual butterfiles were counted from 41 species. Overseen by refuge biologist Kevin Holcomb, 13 volunteers donated 8 hours each to conduct the survey. In addition, the refuge put our a media release highlighting the success.
