Visit from US Senator Coburn's Office Sparks Interesting Idea
Southwest Region, July 13, 2005
Print Friendly Version
On July 6, 2005, Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery (Hatchery) hosted a visit from Mr. Josh Brecheen, Field Representative for U.S. Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma. Mr. Brecheen was amazed at the paddlefish, alligator snapping turtle, and alligator gar projects, and remarked that he had no idea such fantastic things were going on at the only Federal hatchery in Oklahoma. One week later, he returned with representatives from the Oklahoma Department of Tourism to spotlight the hatchery and initiate the possibility of a new joint venture Visitor's Complex for all area attractions, including the Hatchery, Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge, and the Chickasaw Tribe. Support and interest from national and state legislative representatives continues to encourage the Fish and Wildlife Service's mission.
