Journal Entry   Back KENAI: Bear Expert Introduces His New Book to Refuge Community Alaska Region, July 15, 2005 Print Friendly Version Will Troyer, a local author and former Refuge Manager, was hosted by Kenai National Wildlife Refuge on Friday July 15 to speak to the public and sign copies of his newly released book, "Into Brown Bear Country.? Full of unique photographs and information, the 130 page book is both educational and entertaining. It can be purchased at the Refuge for $24.95 or at many outlet stores (ISBN -13: 978-1-889963-72-3). Mr. Troyer began his study of bears in the 1950s when he was manager of the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. Later he managed Kenai Refuge as well. He has published extensively in a variety of magazines and scientific journals and in 1987 received the prestigious Olaus Murie Award for his conservation efforts. Friday's event was attended by over 50 local people and Refuge visitors.
