Agassiz Refuge Dedicates Re-Opening of Fire Observation Tower
Midwest Region, June 5, 2005
Print Friendly Version
On June 5, Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge hosted an open house celebration with part of the celebration being the dedication of reopening the 100 foot Fire/Observation Tower. The tower was closed for several years to complete refurbishing needed to meet safety specifications. The tower was deemed safe and allowed to re-open. However, all people who climb up the tower are required to sign a liablity waiver form before they are given access to the tower.

Dave Quam, Forest Fire Lookout Association Minnesota Director, Bemidji, Minn., was the main presenter for the day giving an excellent presentation on United States fire tower history. He also completed the ribbon cutting at a ceremony held adjacent to the front of the tower.
