Regional Office Youth Fishing Day Draws a Crowd

Over 150 youth from Western Massachusetts participated in the Northeast Regional Office annual Youth Fishing Day on May 14th . Activities during the day included fishing, fly tying, fly casting, arts and craft and face painting. There were several prizes awarded in various categories including first fish caught, longest fish, smallest fish and heaviest fish. The division of engineering constructed a temporary dock at the edge of the pond to make fishing accessible to all. Many Regional Office staff offered their assistance to make the day fun and memorable for all youth involved. Supporters of the event included National Wildlife Refuge System, Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, Center for Sustainable Aquaculture/ University of Massachusetts and Walmart.
