KENAI: Spring Field Trips are a Success
Alaska Region, June 6, 2005
Print Friendly Version
The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Environmental Education Program hosted 870 students in Spring 2005 field trips. Of those, 427 participated in a new "Bear Aware" classroom program in partnership with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and local volunteers. The Refuge also hosted 129 students from Anchorage. Other Spring environmental education highlights include new access to Headquarter's Lake for wetland field trips via the "Keen Eye" Trail and a floating dock and the development of a new booklet to guide students and other visitors through the Visitor Center exhibits and trail activities.
