Four Friends of Pondicherry document bird blitz
Northeast Region, May 30, 2005
Print Friendly Version
On Monday, May 30, four Friends of Pondicherry members participated in a "Big Day" to locate as many bird species as possible in 24 hours at the Pondicherry Division of the Silvio O. Conte refuge in Jefferson and Whitefield, N.H. Rain fell nearly constantly and rather heavily at times from early morning through late afternoon, thus shortening this Big Day, which began at 6:30 a.m. and ended at sunset. Despite the weather, the friends located 106 species, including 22 warblers. Unexpected surprises included 11 white-winged scoters and 6 short-billed dowitchers.
