Volunteers donate more than 3,700 hours to Harris Neck and Blackbeard Island NWRs

The winter 2004/2005 RV camp volunteer program wrapped up in April. In all, four couples donated more than 3700 hours to Harris Neck and Blackbeard Island refuges from September through April. The Homme's, the Chasney's, the Perhach's, and the Churi's projects included repairing wood stork nesting platforms, upkeep of the five mile wildlife drive, installing trail markers on Blackbeard Island, providing tours to school groups and adults, cleaning debris from impoundment ditches, and reconstructing the refuge boat dock. Their assistance was invaluable and we look forward to their return this fall.
