Friends of Ridgefield NWR received $9500 from the Lower Columbia River Estuary Partnership to enhance public outreach and volunteer efforts at Ridgefield NWR. Through this grant, the Refuge was able to hire a part-time seasonal Volunteer Coordinator through Americorps. Friends members and Refuge staff are close to finishing a web-page based on the Auto Tour Route and will create an Auto Tour Route CD which will provide visitors with a self-guided tour of the Refuge. This grant will also enhance education and outreach on the Refuge by funding busses and supplies used in student riparian plantings. This grant showcases the successful partnership of Ridgefield NWR and the Friends of Ridgefield NWR.
