Draft Economic Analysis and EA for Proposed Designation of Critical Habitat for Four Invertebrates
Southwest Region, May 4, 2005
Print Friendly Version
On May 4, 2005, the Service published a notice of availability of the draft economic analysis and draft environmental assessment for the proposed designation of critical habitat for four invertebrates, three snails (Pyrgulopsis rowellensis, Juturnia kosteri, Assiminea pecos) and one amphipod (Gammarus desperatus). The invertebrates are found at Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge and on The Nature Conservancy property in two sites in Texas. The notice opened a 30-day public comment period. Comments are requested on the draft economic analysis, the draft environmental assessment, or the proposed rule. The four invertebrates were proposed as endangered with critical habitat on February 12, 2002. On April 19, 2004 we received a complaint for failure to make a final decision within the mandated one-year time frame. We have agreed to make a final determination by August 1, 2005.
